Mantan juru bicara pada era Presiden KH Abdurrahman Wahid, Wimar Witoelar (62), ternyata masih setia menebar "virus" demokrasi ke seluruh pelosok negeri. Melalui Yayasan Perspektif Baru atau YPB yang didirikannya sejak tahun 1996, Wimar rajin mengajak "orang-orang biasa" di daerah mencurahkan gagasan seputar demokrasi.
Dengan bersemangat, saat menjadi moderator seminar tentang pemilihan kepala daerah (pilkada) bertemakan "Arti Pilkada bagi Orang Biasa", hari Selasa (4/9) di Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat, Wimar berujar, "Saya sering kali emosional ketika berbicara mengenai demokrasi."
Bagi Wimar, membicarakan demokrasi layaknya hobi. "Dengan demokrasi, hidup kita menjadi lebih enak," tutur pria bernama lengkap Wimar Jartika Witoelar Kartaadipoetra itu setengah berkelakar.
Dalam pandangan yang lebih serius, berkali-kali Wimar menekankan bahwa kemakmuran Indonesia hanya bisa dicapai dengan pluralisme dalam bingkai demokrasi.
Ya, semoga saja dengan "virus" demokrasi yang ditebar Wimar di berbagai daerah itu, suatu saat Indonesia dapat menuai kemakmuran. (WHY)
